It’s Official, Google Slurps up Doubleclick.

DoubleClick

Google today announced it was spending 3.1 billion to purchase online display advertising firm DoubleClick. The acquisition itself is not surprising. It was just a matter of who was going to purchase them first. MSN or Google and it looks like Google beat them to the punch. What is surprising thought is the inflated price Google paid for the advertising network.

Google is paying 20 times Doubleclick’s estimated revenues of $150 million. Remember boys and girls that is only revenue. That is NOT profit. I have not done the research but I doubt their profit is 10 to 20% of that. I may be wrong and someone will correct me but that is okay. It will save me the time of looking it up myself ;)

In my next post we will evaluate the sale a little closer.

Could we be in the beginning of the next dot com boom era? It has almost been 10 years so we are due another one any year now right? :)
